Maine Transgender Network, Inc. is dedicated to educating the public about gender identity and raising awareness of the varied forms of gender expression. We have experience providing consultation, education, and trainings to social service/mental health professionals, families, trans individuals, and interested others.

Board of Directors



President - Alex Roan (alex@mainetransnet.org)

Alex is an FTM trans person with an M.S. in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Southern Maine. He is an LCPC-c (licensed clinical professional counselor, con'd). He is the proud owner of four cute guinea pigs. He has many major plans for MaineTransNet in the upcoming year and looks forward to increasing trans visibility in the state of Maine. Alex has recently been accepted to a Ph.D. program in Human Services/Counseling Studies, where he hopes to research gender issues within the realm of counseling.


Treasurer (and Executive Director) - Alison Ouellette (ali@mainetransnet.org)

Alison has worked in the mental health/social service field for several years with children, adults, and families in residential settings and in a case management capacity. She currently works at a Portland homeless shelter. She is an experienced group leader and a very enthusiastic person! She is the partner of a trans person and is dedicated to raising awareness about trans issues and working for trans equality.

Director of Development - Toby B.

 

Toby has a B.A. in English and currently spends his time trying to find out what one does with such a thing. He identifies as FTM, dabbles in web design and enjoys taking walks with his harebrained springer spaniel. Toby is working towards his M.A. in English through an online college. He intends to help create an atmosphere of support for trans-identifying people and their allies, and hopes to foster an understanding of trans issues in the wider community

 


Political Action Director - Kennedy Barteaux

 

Kennedy Barteaux is originally from central Maine and has lived in Portland the good part of 8 years. For the past two years he has been  working as Assistant Coordinator at the Portland Time Bank. He is working on his associates degree in Social Work. Kennedy is looking forward to attending the University of Southern Maine this fall in the Women's and Gender Studies programs. Working with MaineTransNet has given him the opportunity to contribute to the trans community in Maine.
