Portland Support Groups

Specific groups and times listed below.

We offer several different kinds of support meetings in Portland to fit the many different needs of the local community. The Trans only(including non binary and gender non-conforming identities), Allies only, and Trans & Allied mixed meetings are held monthly at the Charles A. Dana Health Education Center at the Maine Medical Center campus. Nonbinary/Genderqueer support meetings, and Trans Elder Meetings are held in our office at the Equality Community Center at 511 Congress St.

Trans Only Support Group

When: 1st Wednesday of every month, 6:00-7:30pm
Where: Charles A. Dana Health Education Center, Maine Medical Center Campus, 22 Bramhall St, Portland, ME 04102

This is a peer-to-peer support group for trans identified and questioning people. We welcome everyone, at all phases of gender transition, to come to these meetings. For the comfort and safety of those who attend this group, we ask that it be a trans only space.

Parents & Allies Only Support Group

When: 1st Wednesday of every month, 6:00-7:30pm
Where: Charles A. Dana Health Education Center, Maine Medical Center Campus, 22 Bramhall St, Portland, ME 04102

This meeting is held at the same time as the Trans Only Meeting. It is a group for trans allies, such as partners, family members, and friends. This group serves as a place of support where allies can learn how to be more supportive of the trans person (or people!) in their lives and build community among each other.

Trans and Allies Support Group

When: 3rd Wednesday of every month, 6:00-7:30pm
Where: Charles A. Dana Health Education Center, Maine Medical Center Campus, Portland, ME

This is a place for trans people and their allies to learn about each other's challenges and triumphs, and receive support. Please note that this meeting is exclusive to trans people and those whom they choose to bring with them. It is not an open forum to learn more about gender diversity.
