Training and Workshop Opportunities
A core part of MaineTransNet's mission is providing education to the broader world about transgender identity, our community, and gender as a whole. We offer a variety of trainings and workshops geared towards community gatherings, health care, mental health, and social service providers, clergy, educators, and work/ professional environments. We offer all our trainings at competitive prices at locations around the state or by request in private offices.

Transgender Allies Training
Time: 1.5-2 hours
Audience: General Community, Clergy, Office
Our Transgender Allies Training is one of our most sought after. During this 90-120 minute training, you will learn basic terminology and theories about gender identity, do's and don't when interacting with trans people, best practices when asking pronouns, and the pillars of allyship. Transgender Cultural Primer
Time: 2-2.5 hours
Audience: Mental Health, Social Service, & Medical Providers
Designed for people in helping and health professions, our Transgender Cultural Primer workshop offers three tracks: Generalist, Mental Health, and Health Care tracks. During this training, you will learning basic terminology and theory, how to ask for pronouns, health disparities facing the community, resiliency factors, and targeted best practices. Providers will have an opportunity following the training to apply to be added to our referral list.
Certificates for CEU's are included with registration.
Transgender Crash Course
time: 45-60 minutes
Audience: Office, Community Setting
A brief overview of essential topics, the Transgender Crash Course will introduce you to basic terminology and theory, pronouns, and do's and don'ts with a period of time to answer burning questions.
Transgender Sexual Health
time: 60-90 minutes
Audience: Health Care Providers, Community Members (including youth)
This 90 minute training will cover essential information about transgender people's sexual health needs including: the effects of stigma on sexual health, sexual violence, HRT and Surgeries and sexual health, indicated screenings, safer sex practices, and, most importantly, PLEASURE in our bodies. This training can be addapted for healthcare providers, transgender community members, and transgender youth at request.
