Trans Cultural Primer, General Track- Portland

This training is designed for people in helping and health professions. Our Transgender Cultural Primer workshop offers three tracks: Generalist, Mental Health, and Health Care tracks. During this training, you will learning basic terminology and theory, how to ask for pronouns, health disparities facing the community, resiliency factors, and targeted best practices. Providers will have an opportunity following the training to apply to be added to our referral list. 

Certificates for CEU's are available with registration.

Facilitator Training

This is one of three trainings we are offering this fall for folks to being certified MaineTransNet support group facilitators. This training is for anyone interested and committed to becoming a group facilitator for eithero ur standard support groups, social programs, or new youth programs. This event is by invite only. If you are interested in being invited, please reach out to us at info@mainetransnet.org and we can talk!

During this training, members will learn:

  • basic meeting facilitation skills
  • redirection strategies for oversharers
  • crisis management
  • how to handle disclosures of trauma
  • MaineTransNet group policies and procedures
  • best practiecs in providing non-judgemental and validating support

Trans Allyship Training- Dover-Foxcroft

This training is free and open to the public! Come Learn about how to be an ally to transgender people and get all your burning questions answered. 

Our Transgender Allies Training is one of our most sought after. During this Two Hour, interactive workshop, you will learn basic terminology and theories about gender identity, do's and don't when interacting with trans people, best practices when asking pronouns, and the pillars of allyship. 

Following the workshop, we will have a panel discussion featuring local transgender persons to discuss their individual experiences, and answer questions from the audience. 

This event will be from 12-3pm on November 4th at Center Theater in Dover-Foxcroft.
