A little girl entered the world. Sooner than later, this baby girl was playing and acting like a little boy. The parents were fine, thinking that this little baby girl would grow out of that phase. As this so-called little girl grew, she continued to be like a boy—everybody called her a Tomboy. No one thought that there was an issue with her playing like a boy. This kid never wanted to ever touch those Barbies.
This little girl was no longer a little baby. She is now 7 and she is trying to think if this is real because the parents were doing things with her like she is a girl, such as playing. As this girl grew, she always hung out with the guys. When she was in 5th grade, she started to date guys because she thought she was the only one feeling like a she should be a boy. Also, because she wanted to test the waters trying to fit in with both the girls and the boys. She grew out her hair to fit in because as she got older the guys started making fun of her because she had short hair.
So in about 7th grade she started to get harassed and she ended up in Acadia Hospital for having SI (suicidal ideation), and she hid from everybody that she was a he on the inside. So she went through 2 years of hospitalization and 1 year of Residential. Shortly after she went home for good, she just started spilling her guts that she wanted to be a boy and needed to be a boy.
As some may know, there is a lot of talking after you say something like that due to making sure she/he was really sure about it. After talking it out with the immediate family, he went on to talking to his counselor about the issue. During this time he was researching a lot about how you change and what goes along with changing. As he researched he talked to his old staff member at Sweetser. He was a great help in starting the process because he is also a female to male and had already started changing.
First he started with buying a binder and then a packer. When he was ready and the family was ready, he went to his first endo appointment and the next appointment he started taking an injection of testosterone. But he had to have a letter of recommendation from the counselor saying he was ready for the change.
Now he is currently still taking testosterone and he has started shaving, voice is changing, and getting stomach and chest hair. He is also in high school using his new name, and that has gone really smooth. He has changed his name. He is planning to have chest surgery when he is 18.
